SafeHit BARRACUDA Barricade System

The BARRACUDA Barricade System is a highly portable and crashworthy barricade specially suited to continuously define the boundaries of a workzone, clearly define lane closures and merges, and physically discourage pedestrian entry and cross through.

The BARRACUDA Barricade System is crashworthy and has been tested to the National Cooperative Highway Research Program Report 350 (NCHRP 350) TL-2 Longitudinal Channelizing Barricade testing procedures, FHWA Acceptance letter WZ-191.

As a longitudinal Channelizing Barricade, The BARRACUDA Barricade System functions to guide road users and warn them of conditions created by work activities in or near the roadway. The System absorbs impact energy and cushions vehicular impacts while significantly reducing the risk to occupants of the impacting vehicle, but does not provide intrusion protection. A vehicle could pass through the line of connected devices and enter the delineated zone. The device is only intended to provide visual direction, delineation and channelization.

BARRACUDA Barricade System sections are available in white, orange, yellow and light gray colors. Each section is constructed of a lightweight polyethylene plastic shell designed to accept water ballast. This durable, recyclable material resists cracking, breakage, fading and corrosion under harsh environmental conditions.

The ends of each section are constructed with four knuckles that interlock with those of other segments. The end knuckles are vertically aligned to accept an ABS plastic connecting pin. The sections can swivel at the pin for easy positioning around work areas. The wide flat top of the Barracuda enables stacking of units to reduce shipping and storage space.

From the outside, the sections are identical to Energy’s existing TRITON Barrier®, but the BARRACUDA Barricade System segments are fabricated without an internal steel framework. The Barracuda Barricade System has been accepted by the FHWA to be interconnected to the end of a Triton Barrier deployment. This feature enables a seamless transition between the positive protection zone of the Triton Barrier System and the gating, channelizing zone of the Barracuda Barrier System.

Each BARRACUDA Barricade System section is constructed with forklift ports to allow for mechanical lifting if desired. One large fill opening and a drain plug are provided to allow quick filling and draining of the water ballast.
